The Galician slate sector is working on the fight against occupational diseases, mainly those derived from exposure to dust and noise. This is highlighted in el Clúster de la Pizarra de Galicia (Galician Slate Cluster), which states that in this area 718,624.69 euros are currently available, within the framework of a call for aid presented in 2020. “From this amount, 396,069.24 euros come from the aid provided by the Second Vice-Presidency of the Xunta and the Consellería de Economía, as indicated in the official bulletin – Diario Oficial de Galicia dated from February, 5 and the rest has already been provided by the beneficiary companies”, according to the aforementioned Organisation.

Thus, the call for aid from the Galician Government helps to pay seven projects to prevent work-related ailments in six different companies in the slate sector.

For the president of the Slate Cluster, Víctor Cobo, “the commitment to occupational safety and the health of workers in the sector are two essential premises” and for this “all public aid and subsidies are welcome”.
