
More than 450 karatekas, from a total of 26 clubs from all over Galicia, took part on Saturday 15 April in the third day of the Galician Karate League held in O Barco de Valdeorras.
The competition started at 10. 00 am in the municipal pavilion of Calabagueiros with the category of juniors and cadets with eight medals for Valdeorras (1 gold, 2 silver and 5 bronze): Brian Rodriguez (River Stone O Barco), gold medal in juvenile men’s advanced kata; Iago Dobao (Shotokan), bronze medal in juvenile men’s initiation kata; Aina Moral and Cloe Yañez (River Stone O Barco), bronze medal in women’s advanced kata; Carla Peña (River Stone O Barco), silver medal in juvenile female initiation kata; Hugo Álvarez and Enzo Prieto (River Stone O Barco), silver and bronze medal respectively in cadet male advanced kata; and Dylan González (Shotokan A Rúa), bronze medal in cadet male initiation kata.
In the afternoon, it was the turn of the youth, fry and infant categories, where Valdeorras karatekas continued to accumulate a total of 22 medals (3 gold, 7 silver and 12 bronze).

Stone O Barco) silver in advanced men’s youth kata; Telmo Casas and Evan Arias (Shotokan A Rúa), gold and bronze respectively in initiation men’s youth kata; Leyre Pradelo (River Stone O Barco), bronze in advanced women’s youth kata; Silvia Padrisa and Uxía André (Shotokan A Rúa), silver and bronze respectively in Youth initiation kata; Manuel Blanco and Diego López (River Stone O Barco), silver and bronze respectively in Youth advanced kata; Miguel Crespo (River Stone O Barco), silver and bronze respectively in Youth advanced kata; Silvia Padrisa and Uxía André (Shotokan A Rúa), silver and bronze respectively in the women’s advanced fry kata; Miguel Crespo (River Stone O Barco), gold medal in the men’s initiation fry kata; Daniela Rodriguez (River Stone O Barco), silver medal in the women’s initiation fry kata; Nazan Barreda and José Carrera do River Stone and Lucas García do Shotokan, silver and bronze medals respectively in men’s advanced kata infantil; and Lua González (Shotokan A Rúa), bronze medal in women’s kata infantil initiation.
Alfredo García, mayor of O Barco, Aurentino Alonso, sports councillor and deputy mayor of O Barco, and the president of the Galician Karate Federation, Óscar Lafuente, attended the award ceremony for these categories.
