Following our desire of choosing every month a work which represent us, this February, we continue with the rehabilitation of roofs in buildings classified as historical. This time, the range of our K08 slate used for historical monuments, was chosen for the replacement of the roof of the Hainaut General Hospital, a construction from the mid-18th century. The construction saw the transformation of the building into a four-star luxury hotel, the Royal Hainaut Spa & Resort Hotel, which opened in 2017.
For its rehabilitation, 11.000 m2 of our K08 slate, in 40×22 format, 5 milimetres wide, were used. A colossal construction of five years work, which was made respecting the original. Nowadays receives guests from all over the world in the heritage city of Valenciennes, in northern France.
The local magazine Valenciennes Métropole, highlighted the new hotel after the rehabilitation as “a new jewel”.
